Conceived as a dance work, Joby Talbot's score Tide Harmonic (2009; arr. 2013) was specially arranged for Christopher Wheeldon's ballet. Choreographed for four couples, Tide Harmonic was Wheeldon's first creation for Pacific Northwest Ballet and the fifth Wheeldon ballet to enter the company's repertory

Talbot describes the music as "…a kind of water symphony that, rather than constructing a poetic or narrative programme inspired by man's relationship with water, instead focuses on the substance itself, the forces that act upon it, and the energy that flows through and from it."

Peter Boal, Pacific Northwest Ballet's Artistic Director, says, "As a choreographer, Chris's sense of musicality and invention coupled with his knowledge of tradition and design are unparalleled. This was a true highlight of our 40th Anniversary Season in 2013."

Talbot's other dance compositions include Wheeldon's Alice's Adventure's in Wonderland (2010), The Winter's Tale (2013), Fool's Paradise, Wayne McGregor's Chroma (2007), and Medhi Walerski's Chamber Symphony (2012) for Netherlands Dance Theater & The Norwegian National Ballet.
